A MEMORABLE VISIT FROM ST JUDE’S

In early March 2015 we welcomed Felix Mollel and Gemma Sisia from St Jude’s School in Tanzania.Picture1

Felix (whose name means happiness) brought colour and vibrancy to our Masses, as he told us his story and entertained us with Massai singing and leaping down the aisle of St Mary Magdalene’s.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor a child at St Jude’s please contact the parish office and we will supply you with the details. Such donations in the name of St Jude’s are tax deductible. Please give this remarkable school your consideration.

GIVING TREE MEMORIAL PLAQUE & DONOR BOOK

In gratitude to those who donated to St Mary Magdalene’s Centenary Appeal last year, we acknowledge the generosity of our parishioners with two forms of remembrance. A memorial plaque, the Giving Tree, has been installed in the chapel of Our Lady next to the altar. The names engraved alongside the Giving Tree are of a deceased family member or members dear to the major appeal donors. A Book of Centenary Donors is also to be displayed in the church, holding the calligraphied names of all those who gave to the appeal and so enabled the restoration of our beautiful church.

CENTENARY CAPITAL APPEAL & MYANMAR WATER TANKS APPEAL

The conservation work on our beautiful sanctuary of prayer and worship St Mary Magdalene’s has now been completed. Our appeal, launched in April 2014, has yielded many wonderfully generous donations. Our target was $500,000, reached in November 2014. At Christmas an appeal was conducted for water tanks in Myanmar, sponsored by Rosemary Breen. The fund stands in excess of $40,000.

The success of these appeals is a work of the superb generosity of the parishioners of Rose Bay and Dover Heights. Congratulations!
