Rose Bay Dover Heights Catholics

Our Community

The Catholic communities of Rose Bay and Dover Heights are two parishes with a common parish priest, and with similar pastoral goals and history.

For a limited number of months the parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea, New South Head Rd Watsons Bay is being administered by Monsignor Doherty and Father Joe Guines and is seen as a part of this community.

SCHOOLS

St Mary Magdalene Rose Bay has two schools within the parish. McAuley Primary school which is the parish school enrolling students, both boys and girls, from Kindergarten to Year 6.  Kincoppal Rose bay school enrolls students from pre-school to Year 12 accepting boys in the younger grades and girls through to secondary school – both boarders and day students.

St Therese Dover Heights lease out the St Therese Pre-school to private operators who conduct classes for children not yet in kindergarten.

DINNERS

General community activities include parish dinners (for about 15 ) , winter lunch meetings for the three parishes of Rose Bay, Dover Heights and Watsons Bay and occasional picnics.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA

The Youth Ministry team has initiated a programme of ‘Clean Up Australia’ which has focused on the local area and foreshore.

SPIRITUALITY FOR WOMEN

A programme entitled Spirituality for Women is held each year bringing inspiring speakers together, such as ABC journalist Geraldine Doogue, Aboriginal film-maker Rachel Perkins, Wendy Harmer, educationalist Leoni Degenhardt, journalist Emily Dunn and Annie Stewart. This popular programme, usually held in May, attracts a substantial audience from many parts of Sydney.

 CHRISTMAS CAROLS

Each year the parishes collaborate with the Anglican parish of St Michael’s Vaucluse, St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Rose Bay, St George’s Greek Church Rose Bay to conduct  a celebration of Christmas Carols.
